The St. Louis Regional Freightway recently announced the completion of the $222 million project to replace the Merchants Bridge over the Mississippi River.<\/p>\n
The railroad bridge provides a critical railway link not only between Illinois and Missouri but the nation overall as one of the primary east-west rail corridors serving one of America’s largest rail hubs by car interchange volume and gross tonnage.<\/p>\n
The project has been decades in the making and will provide major benefits for years to come including generating over $456 million of economic impact over the next 20 years alone.<\/p>\n
